Day 10Hmmm...today I was playing with the little ones, when I noticed that some of the babies are much shinier than others. Could it be that I have some satins in this litter?? I don't know the first thing about genetics, so I don't know how they got there, but I didn't see any satin mice in with Tuesday when I bought her. I tried to show the difference in some pics. Oh, and it looks like I've got a few black and whites in there with the grey and whites!! Now I'm almost positive that Tuesday was happy to let me take her babies-I find her sleeping on top of the nest or next to it whenever she gets a chance. I think she's happy for the break. Oh, and I rechecked the babies today, definatly 3 boys, 6 girls.
Day 11
I cleaned out Tuesday's cage for the first time since she had the babies today. It wasn't really stinky yet, but I didn't want to wait until it got that way. The babies have gotten very quick! It is a bit harder to grab them, because they tend to squirm a lot more, but once they're in hand they settle down. They should be opening their eyes any day now, then the real fun begins!!
Day 12
Today the babies are moving around so much its pretty much impossible to take a decent picture!! I'm glad they're so active and chubby and healthy though!! I tried to show the size comparison, sorry its blurry, but it still shows just how big they've gotten. It's really amazing how much they've changed in just 12 days! Tuesday won't even take the babies from my hand anymore, "just dump 'em back in the nest-I'll feed them later..."
