This is Tuesday Mouse. I got her at a local petstore on Tuesday, April 9th, 2002 knowing full well she was pregnant. Now, I Usually woudln't do this, because the boyfriend has put a limit on the number of mice I'm allowed to keep in the house (it was 9, but that number has more than doubled-hehe!) but she was such a beautiful mouse, such a cute face, that I just had to take her home. The guy at the petstore was great and said i could bring the babies back when they're old enough to sell as pets, so i'm not worried.
The first photo was taken about 5 hours before she had her babies. I was so sure she would have her babies that night, because she looked like she was about to burst! "Fat Tuesday" (as I was fond of calling her before the birth) is a pretty friendly girl. She hasn't had much time to get used to me yet, we've only known eachother for a week, but she doesn't bite, or freak out when I hold her. She's not leaping into my hands yet, but she doesn't mind me too terribly. But she has informed me that she doesn't enjoy being called "Fat Tuesday", especially since she's back to her slim self again, so out of respect, I won't call her that again, her name is Tuesday Mouse.
The second picture shows tuesday 3 days before having her babies with her cagemate, Foxy. Foxy is a resuce baby. She was in a "Fuzzy" feeder bin at another petstore, and I couldn't resist. I brought her home with two other little ones who were much younger than her. They were all fed with kitten milk, but sadly, the youngest two didn't make it. Foxy is doing well though, and I'm hoping she lives a long and healthy life. She's wonderful with the babies-she never leaves them alone. Foxy and Tuesday make a great team.
